The Sermon on the Mount Series

The Sermon on the Mount is broken up into 7 parts and presented in each of their respective sections. We will continually add more of the video studies of the Sermon on the Mount until the entire list is fulfilled.

I. The Kingdom’s Character (5:1–16)
Jesus reveals the Kingdom’s character — transforming human weakness into divine identity.

  • 5:3–10 — The Beatitudes: The inner qualities of Kingdom citizens.
  • 5:11–12 — The Truth of Persecution: The cost of discipleship.
  • 5:13–16 — Salt and Light: The calling to influence and illuminate the world.

II. The Kingdom’s Law (5:17–48)

Jesus deepens the Mosaic Law — moving from external compliance to internal transformation.

  • 5:17–20 — Christ and the Law: Fulfillment, not abolition.
  • 5:21–26 — Anger and Reconciliation: Murder begins in the heart.
  • 5:27–30 — Adultery and Lust: Purity of intention.
  • 5:31–32 — Divorce: Faithfulness and integrity in covenant.
  • 5:33–37 — Oaths: Let your “Yes” be “Yes.”
  • 5:38–42 — Retaliation: Nonresistance and generosity.
  • 5:43–48 — Love for Enemies: The perfection of divine love.

III. The Kingdom’s Devotion (6:1–18)

Practicing righteousness for God’s eyes, not human applause.

  • 6:1–4 — Giving to the Needy: Secret generosity.
  • 6:5–15 — Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer as pattern and posture.
  • 6:16–18 — Fasting: Hidden discipline and inner joy.

IV. The Kingdom’s Trust (6:19–34)

Shifting allegiance from earthly security to divine provision.

  • 6:19–24 — Treasure in Heaven: Purity of loyalty.
  • 6:25–34 — Do Not Worry: Trust in the Father’s care.

V. The Kingdom’s Relationships (7:1–12)

Wisdom in dealing with others.

  • 7:1–6 — Judging Others: Discernment without condemnation.
  • 7:7–11 — Asking, Seeking, Knocking: Prayerful persistence.
  • 7:12 — The Golden Rule: Love as the fulfillment of law.

VI. The Kingdom’s Choice (7:13–27)

A series of contrasts urging decision and discernment.

  • 7:13–14 — The Narrow and Wide Gates: The cost of true discipleship.
  • 7:15–20 — False Prophets and True Fruit: Testing by character.
  • 7:21–23 — False Disciples: Relationship over performance.
  • 7:24–27 — Wise and Foolish Builders: Hearing and doing.

VII. The Kingdom’s Authority (7:28–29)

  • The People’s Response: Astonishment at His authority — the Word made living law.
